Acid Nation Rights Ownership & Monetization Policy
Effective Date: June 28 2023
Acid Nation is committed to ensuring that all artists and labels receive fair compensation for their music while respecting rights ownership. This policy outlines the process for claiming streaming rights, handling disputes, and ensuring compliance with existing agreements between artists and labels.
1. Rights Ownership & Upload Policy
1.1. Artist Declarations
- By uploading music to Acid Nation, artists must confirm that they either own or have the legal right to distribute and monetize the content.
- Artists must check a rights declaration box before completing their upload.
- If an artist is signed to a label, they must ensure their contract permits independent streaming monetization.
- Artist accounts must have an active subscription to monetize content on Acid Nation.
1.2. Label Rights Priority
- If a label has uploaded a track first, the label’s claim takes priority over an artist’s independent claim.
- If both a label and an artist upload the same track separately, Acid Nation will hold payments until the rights dispute is resolved.
2. Handling Disputes Between Artists & Labels
2.1. Disputed Uploads
- If a label disputes an artist’s upload, the track’s monetization will be temporarily paused until verification is completed.
- Acid Nation will notify both parties and request documentation proving rights ownership.
- Disputes must be resolved within 30 days to avoid long payout delays.
2.2. Proof of Rights Requirement To verify streaming rights, Acid Nation may request:
- A signed contract between the artist and the label.
- A release agreement stating that the artist holds independent streaming rights.
- A letter of permission from the label allowing independent monetization.
3. Revenue Distribution Rules
3.1. Payouts for Label-Owned Tracks
- If a label owns the rights, earnings from streaming, downloads, and sales will be sent directly to the label’s Acid Nation account.
- The label is responsible for distributing earnings to its artists according to their contract terms.
3.2. Independent Artist Earnings
- If an artist proves ownership of streaming rights, earnings will be paid directly to the artist.
- Artists signed to a label can only receive direct payouts if their contract allows it.
4. Options for Artists & Labels
4.1. Label-Approved Accounts
- Artists under a label can register through their label’s Acid Nation Label Account, ensuring revenue distribution is managed correctly.
- Labels can set up sub-accounts for artists under their roster.
4.2. Direct Artist Streaming Agreements
- Artists with streaming rights separate from their label can request an Independent Streaming Agreement with Acid Nation.
- Artists must submit proof of rights before payouts begin.
5. Conflict Resolution & Policy Enforcement
5.1. Resolution Process
- AC55ID will mediate disputes fairly, ensuring both artists and labels present evidence.
- If no resolution is reached within 30 days, Acid Nation may remove disputed content or default to label ownershipunless the artist provides sufficient proof.
5.2. Policy Violations
- Uploading content without proper rights may result in:
- Monetization suspension.
- Removal of content from Acid Nation.
- Account suspension for repeated violations.
