Nasser (US)

Biography

Nasser Karama’s musical journey began in a home steeped in rhythm and soul. Raised by a father with a deep love for music, some of his earliest memories are of spirited jam sessions to the sounds of Bob Marley, Led Zeppelin, James Brown, and Steel Pulse, with grooves echoing through the walls of their home in the early ’90s. Immersed in reggae and hip-hop from a young age, it wasn’t until he turned 18 that he discovered Los Angeles’ vibrant rave scene—a pivotal experience that opened the door to electronic music and set him on a new creative path.

He began experimenting with FL Studio and, in 2013, transitioned to Ableton Live. That same year, he enrolled in a course at Dubspot in Hollywood, studying under electronic music pioneer Thavius Beck. Shortly after, he started releasing melodic house tracks on boutique labels such as Dream Culture and Nie Wieder Schlafen.

A vocalist since age 14 and a veteran of various bands throughout his youth, Nasser eventually found himself drawn to the tactile world of analog gear. By 2019/2020, he had sold much of his digital studio setup in favor of an all-Roland analog workflow, seeking a warmer, more hands-on sound.

At the heart of his productions are basslines inspired by the dub and reggae riddims of his upbringing—grooves that form the bedrock of his tracks. His soundscapes are often adorned with field recordings and enveloped in lush ambient pads, creating an immersive and organic listening experience.

Nasser’s current focus lies in crafting warm, dub-infused, analog-driven grooves, but his musical curiosity remains ever-present. Continuously evolving, he listens with intention, absorbing the diverse textures and cadences that shape the electronic landscape.
